MARIJUANA USE
Marijuana is an illegal, mind-altering drug produced from the hemp plant, which is usually smoked by the user. THC, the main active chemical (among 400 present) in marijuana, effects changes in the brain of the user. However, what is most troubling, is that marijuana today is more potent & teens are starting use at increasingly younger ages – during crucial brain development years.

All-American Sammy Watkins suspended two games for arrest of Marijuana.
CLEMSON, S.C. -- Clemson will be without star receiver Sammy Watkins for its season-opening showdown with Auburn after Tigers coach Dabo Swinney suspended the All-American for two games after an offseason drug arrest.

Watkins was pulled over during a traffic stop May 4 and found to have marijuana and two pills he didn't have a prescription for. He was charged with two counts of possession, both misdemeanor charges.
Detroit Lions DT Nick Fairley selected in the first round (13th overall) of the 2011 NFL draft, has now been arrested twice in the last two months. He'll be arraigned for a misdemeanor marijuana possession charge in July, and he was popped on Saturday night in Alabama for allegedly driving under the influence and attempting to elude police. Fairley, an Auburn alum, was arrested both times in Mobile. So ... that's two arrests, and one NFL sack.

TYRANN MATHIEU WILL SIT OUT SEASON AND GO THROUGH DRUG REHAB

Tyrann Mathieu has made a life-changing decision in an effort to come out a better person on the other end.
Instead of searching around for a new place to play football for the 2012 season, Mathieu has decided to enter drug rehab and work on the issues that got him dismissed at LSU.

LSU parted ways with Mathieu a week ago after he failed multiple drug tests. According to the Fox affiliate in New Orleans, Mathieu has been in a drug rehab in Houston and will remain there for an undetermined amount of time. Former NBA player John Lucas, who reached out to Mathieu after his dismissal, runs the Right Step recovery center in Houston. Bruce Feldman of CBSsports.com says Mathieu has been there since Sunday battling marijuana addiction.

It's good Mathieu is responding to some sort of mentoring. Former LSU star safety LaRon Landry, who is now with the New York Jets, said he tried to reach out to Mathieu and eventually stopped getting replies. Landry said he got "caught up living the life."
Mathieu's family agrees, which is why they're using this opportunity to have Mathieu focus on himself and not football or any of the pressure surrounding it.
